Walter Parker Jr., the son of Rev. Walter and Delores
Parker, was born in Orlando, FL. Raised in the Church of God all his life, he
began taking piano lessons at the age of three. By the age of 10, he was
already traveling and singing across the U.S. with his family. He is a
five-time State Teen Talent Winner and won National Teen Talent on Percussion
Definite Pitch and National Runner-up in the Electronic Keyboard Category.
Walter attended Lee University for three semesters and played for both the
symphonic band and the Evangelistic Singers (EVS). Walter was a full-time minister of
music for five years at churches in Raleigh, NC, and Jacksonville, FL. He
credits his love for music to being brought up in a home full of love for the
Lord and love for music.
Walter has four older sisters who all learned music from a
young age as well. “In my family, it was mandatory to learn at least one
instrument,” he says. “I am passionate about serving my God and believe in
worshiping and praising Him in a passionate manner.” Walter’s many musical
influences include: Clint Brown, Martha Munizzi, Hillsongs, Israel Houghton,
Gary Oliver, Joe Pace, John P. Kee, just to name a few. Walter also enjoys
listening to smooth jazz, Stevie Wonder, and Ray Charles as well. In his spare
time he enjoys: spending time with family, playing sports, XBox 360, and a good
movie. “I am truly blessed to be able to serve God and the wonderful people at
Elmwood Avenue Church of God. I take my ministry with great responsibility and
enjoy working with everyone here! --To God be the glory!!!”
