Charles
Ledford, an ordained bishop in the Church of God, is currently serving as Senior
Pastor of Elmwood Avenue Church of God in Columbia, South Carolina.
He also serves as Chairman for the Board of Directors of Stepping Stones
Ministry, Inc.
Pastor Ledford has served in music, youth, and pastoral ministry in Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina - having been senior pastor of six of the congregations
served.
He received his undergraduate education from Warren Wilson College and the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He holds his seminary degree in theology from
International Seminary, in Plymouth, Florida. In 1982 Pastor Ledford was listed in OUTSTANDING YOUNG MEN OF AMERICA for his
contributions to the community through ministry. In addition to his pastoral positions in the Church of God, Pastor Ledford has
served his denomination as district overseer in North and South Carolina. He was a member of the State Music Committee in both Kentucky and Western North
Carolina. In Western North Carolina, he chaired the committee for four of the eight years served. He served as chairman of the State Ordained Ministers
Examining Board for Western North Carolina.
He also served on the Ministerial Examining Board for the rank of Bishop in South Carolina and as chairman of the South Carolina
Church of God Home for Children Board of Directors.
He is currently serving on the Ministerial Development Board for South Carolina. On the national level of the Church of God, Pastor Ledford has served
as an adjudicator for Teen Talent and on the General Assembly Music Cabinet. Along with his denominational ministry, Pastor Ledford has been involved with
the ecumenical community having participated with community ministerial associations. He served on the executive committee of the Asheboro, NC
Ministerial Association as both vice president and subsequently president. He has been afforded opportunities to speak in churches of various denominations as
well as other denominational district, presbytery, and state level meetings. In civic involvement, Pastor Ledford has been actively involved with local
Chambers of Commerce and served on community boards and committees such as President of the PTO, the Mayor's Prayer Breakfast Committee, Christian
United Outreach Center, Citizens for a Drug-Free Community, and Women's Aglow Fellowship Advisory Committee.
