I was born in Saratoga Springs, New York, to my wonderful parents Buddy and Dotty Byrd. With my dad in the Air Force, I have lived in Georgia, Oregon, Texas, South Carolina, and Germany.

At the age of 9, I accepted Jesus as my personal Savior.  At around age 11, I experienced a childhood miracle in immediate and direct response to a prayer I prayed, impressing upon me just how much God loves His children.   When prompted by the Spirit at age 12 during a storm, I rededicated my life to the Lord and experienced His undescribable and unforgettable peace.

Graduating from Midlands Technical College in 1982, I began my administrative career with both the private sector and federal government.  In 1988 I was married to Gary, and soon to follow came the births of our two sons, Gary Dee and Jordan Chavis.  During the 7th year of homeschooling our sons, I was offered my current position, which was an answer to prayer which came very differently than the way I had imagined.  The Lord has directed me many times to take a different direction than the one I had planned, equipping me to accomplish every task.  My ideas would never have worked in the life He planned for me.  By yielding to the Lord's will even when I did not understand why, I have been amazed to see His will unfold, making my life so complete-- always working in the details of my concerns, wrapped with all the loving attributes of our Lord.

I am really blessed to have been able to be used by God administratively, musically, and educationally in this church body as well as in outreach ministry.  I desire to be an effective witness and an active part of the Spirit-directed growth and advancement of the Elmwood Avenue Church of God as well as the entire body of Christ to the glory of God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Ps 92:4 & 13 -- "For You, LORD, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands...  Those who are planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God." NKJV
