It is our distinct pleasure to welcome and introduce you to Elmwood Avenue Church of God. You will find as you become acquainted with our church family that they are some of the greatest people in all the world!  As you read the synoptic history of the church you can readily see that the loyal and dedicated members have always had a unity that would allow them to hurdle any obstacle and move forward together with great accomplishments. Truly the past has proven to be a wonderful success.

Today
our church is a compassionate ministering body of believers and our emphasis is to "Worship The Lord" and "Disciple Believers."

As we press into the future our goal is to effectively communicate the Word of God and lead this congregation in fulfilling and Living The Vision God has for us in the Columbia community and around the world.

LEADERSHIP IN MINISTRY
Ministry at Elmwood Avenue Church of God involves teaching, service, outreach, and modeling the Christian life.  It therefore depends not only on our staff, but also on volunteer workers who are deeply rooted in a scriptural foundation and are living out their faith in a consistent manner and can communicate that faith in an effective application.

The leadership of Elmwood Avenue is tightly interwoven with the overall purpose of the church, which is to provide a context for persons from every walk of life to come to a saving knowledge of Christ, a growing personal walk in the Holy Spirit, involvement through fellowship, and a life of witnessing ministry as a disciple of Jesus Christ.

The objective of our leadership is to facilitate the vision, philosophy, and mission of Elmwood Avenue Church of God by both design and support.

PREACHING & TEACHING MINISTRY
Led by our Senior Pastor, Bishop Charles Ledford, and the Assistant to the Pastor, Bishop Kenneth Brazell, the ministry team is committed to discipling believers through Bible-based preaching and teaching so that they may know the truth of God’s Word and not be blinded by the mindset of this world and the misconceptions of the enemy.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY
There is a very active program for children of all age groups with children’s church ministry being led by Ian and Suzanne Gould.  Our Family Training Hour (FTH) provides the opportunity for discipleship development through PFC’s (boys’ club) and girls’ clubs.  Our juniors are also afforded the opportunity to be a part of the junior choir and orchestra.

YOUTH & CHRISTIAN EDUCATION MINISTRY
Reverend Clay Smith serves as Minister of Youth & Christian Education.  Through his leadership, a comprehensive ministry is provided for and communicated to the youth of Elmwood Avenue through youth church, effective teaching, counseling, and exciting activities.

The Christian Education department is staffed by volunteer workers in Sunday School, Family Training Hour (FTH) and outreach classes who are deeply rooted in a scriptural foundation and who are communicating their faith in an effective manner.

MUSIC MINISTRY
Music and Christian Arts have always been and will continue to be a vital part of Elmwood Avenue.  We are happy to have Walter Parker serving as Minister of Music.  He brings to the department excellent skills seasoned with a compatibility that is producing an exciting ministry that is leading our church into the presence of the Lord in worship.

MEDIA MINISTRY
Our Media Department which is led by Bill Meares is equipped with cutting-edge media technology which enables this team to effectively minister to the church.

STEPPING STONES MINISTRY, INC.
Stepping Stones is the outreach ministry of our church.  Through Stepping Stones, we minister at Morris Village and RCDC.  The ministry also operates a food pantry at the church and a thrift store on Two Notch Road.  One of the goals of this ministry is to provide extended drug and alcohol rehabilitation through a transitional housing program which is now in operation.

WOMEN'S MINISTRY

Women’s Ministry is probably the oldest auxiliary ministry in the church.  This ministry provides spiritual support as well as opportunities for service for the ladies and young women of our church.
